Sometimes, a single minute is all it takes to save a life. That minute might be the difference between the paramedics arriving on time to stabilise the patient or simply being too late, or that minute might make all the difference on being able to move the patient out of immediate danger. As a result, it’s important that you do what you can to prevent deterioration wherever possible. Make sure the patient is kept as still as they can be once they’re in a safe place so as to avoid aggravating any injuries they may have sustained, especially those that may still be unseen. Once you’re sure they’re not making themselves worse, only then can you begin to think about what comes next.
